Fine Print For Paradise: How To Get A Good Deal At A Resort

by Agustin Gimenez

If you want to have the vacation of a lifetime, you may think that you have to plan the budget of a lifetime, too. Luckily, there are ways to go on a great vacation for an inexpensive price. One of the best ways to get a good deal is to go with resort and hotel package. Resorts tend to have a room, board, and a number of activities to do within the hotel area self. If you plan to book a resort for your next getaway, remember to read the fine print. Here are some items to look at in the contract and ask for in order to have an excellent all-inclusive vacation.

Which foods/meals are included?

A number of resorts will include food inside of the package. One thing that you must go over is exactly which meals are included and what types of foods will be available. Some resorts will offer a buffet for one meal per day while others will offer customers the option of a specific meal menu for all three meals. Others will provide meal tickets to resort guests and allow them to use their allotted meals at their leisure. Figure out which meal schedule your contract entails to figure out if it really is a good deal.

What about the alcohol?

Some adult resorts will include alcoholic drinks in the price of the resort. This cost cut could mean that difference between you having a nice drink anytime you want versus having to pay several dollars for even a tiny cocktail. If you would like to enjoy alcoholic beverages inside of your resort stay, speak with the manager and ask if drinks can be included. Some may offer drink bands for guests over 21 for a nominal fee within the contract.

Is airport transportation available?

Depending on the resort that you choose while on vacation, you may be close or far away from the airport. Some transportation companies may upcharge to go to the airport or charge tourists a higher rate for travel. You also may not know the quickest route, so you can end up paying much more than you bargained for. If you are further out from the airport, the ride may actually negate any of your savings from the all-inclusive resort. A resort that offers airport transfers will mean a quickly available ride that keeps money in your pocket.

What's free at the beach?

All-inclusive resorts that have a beach often have water activities, but these can come at an extra cost. Check to figure out if your resort offers water sports that you may wish to take part in and figure out how much they cost. Upon check in, ask for a list of activities and their cost. At times, there are people who will come onto the beach and "guard" the equipment to offer at a cost, even though the activity is free. In order to avoid being the victim of any scams, always ask the resort management about an activity before participating.

For a resort, contact a company such as The Breakers Hotel.
