Learn How To Plan Your First Fishing Expedition

by Agustin Gimenez

If you are someone who has lived in the city for most of your life and you want to try to connect with Mother Nature, consider going on a fishing expedition. Fishing expeditions allow you to have a unique experience that you would never be able to enjoy in the city. The following guide walks you through a few things to take into consideration when planning your first fishing expedition.

Determine If You Want to Do Freshwater or Saltwater Fishing

You first need to decide if you want to fish for freshwater or saltwater fish. Fresh water fish are typically found in lakes, streams, or ponds. The water is typically calmer and the likelihood of catching something during your trip is very high. If you choose to go saltwater fishing, it is important to know that the boat may rock quite a bit depending on the ocean waves. You may want to take something for motion sickness before you get on the boat to decrease your chances of getting sick.

Determine Where You Will Stay

Next, you need to determine where you will stay during your trip. There are many times when lodging is included in the trip and you are able to stay in a cabin or resort when you are not fishing. This allows you to have down time to relax on your own when needed. Be sure to choose if you want to share a cabin with someone else or want to bunk alone, if you are going with other people.

Determine If Equipment Is Included

When you are booking your trip, you need to find out if the equipment that you will need for the expedition is included in the trip or if you need to purchase or rent it separately. If you are booking an expedition for beginners, there is a good chance that everything is included.

Determine If You Get to Keep What You Catch

Finally, you need to determine if you are going on a catch and release expedition or a catch and keep expedition. Catch and release means that you catch the fish and then release them back into the water. Catch and keep means that you get to keep the fish that you catch and bring them home. You need to bring a great cooler with you on the trip if you are going to keep the fish you catch to ensure that they do not spoil on your way home.

Once you know all this information, you will be ready to book your expedition. It will allow you to see and do things that you have never been able to enjoy before. It can be a great experience to share with friends or simply to enjoy on your own. Contact a business such as the Lodge of Whispering Pines for more information.
