Improving My Family Vacations

Three Fun Gulf Coast Destinations For Vacation Rentals

by Agustin Gimenez

Renting a vacation home on the Gulf Coast provides you and your family with plenty of opportunities for fun. Dotted all along the coast are a host of cities full of rental options and exciting attractions where you and your loved ones can escape the routine of everyday life. If you're planning a vacation, here are some fun Gulf Coast destinations to find a rental home for your trip.

Galveston, Texas

Not everyone thinks of Texas when they think of Gulf Coast vacations, but Galveston is home to stunning waterfront scenes and lots of family-friendly attractions. Spend a day at the Galveston Island Historic Pleasure Pier riding the rollercoaster and other rides and journey to The Strand, a historic shopping district for dinner each night. Rental homes on Galveston Island provide easy access to a host of activities and afford you and your family beautiful waterfront views. This Gulf-front city is perfect for winter and spring vacations, providing warm weather as an escape from chilly conditions up north. As with many Gulf Coast destinations, Galveston can be busy during spring break, so keep this in mind when booking your vacation rental.

Pensacola, Florida

Pensacola offers a more quiet and relaxed vacation scene for families. A small local airport provides easy access to the city, and a quick drive across the Pensacola Bay Bridge reveals a host of beachfront vacation rentals in the form of condos for your family to relax in. Local restaurants and a boardwalk shopping district give you and your little ones plenty of things to see and do. Take a trip back to the mainland for a visit to the National Naval Aviation Museum for a chance to use flight simulators and experience what it's like to be a Navy pilot. Pensacola offers a variety of vacation rentals, from homes on the mainland to cozy apartments right on the waterfront, so there's plenty to choose from for your family.

Gulf Shores, Alabama

For a perfect getaway filled with plenty of nature and some modern big city amenities, consider booking a vacation rental in Gulf Shores. This coastal Alabama city is home to the Gulf State Park, filled with sandy beaches and lots of opportunities for birdwatching and a state-of-the-art learning campus where you and your family can familiarize yourself with the local wildlife. A nearby alligator farm offers guided tours for families for an up-close look at these colossal creatures, and the downtown OWA district is home to restaurants and live entertainment. Vacation rentals are available on either side of the state park beach area, with your choice of apartments and houses ready for relaxation. If you prefer to stay away from the hustle and bustle of other vacationers, consider a rental along Mobile Bay for a quiet retreat. Gulf Shores is also a short distance from Pensacola, so you and your family can enjoy attractions from both cities during your stay.
